Why Smart Power?

Our electrical equipment was designed and selected to minimize spikes in building energy demand. These spikes occur when equipment starts up and can lead to higher-cost demand charges. Data provided by this equipment allows our operational team to better manage systems in the building for improved operational efficiency.

Our DALI lighting system, provided by Eaton, conserves energy, reduces operating cost and improves lighting quality. DALI is an international standard that lets us control lights individually, in a whole room, or on an entire floor. That means our Facilities team can manage the entire lighting system from the web – we can even‘ask’ the lights for information on use or to diagnose problems!

This provides up to 70% lighting energy savings by letting us:

1. Schedule in Advance
Synchronizing the On/Off times of each fixture with the timing of people in those spaces eliminates wasted energy by ensuring that lights are only turned on when needed and shut off the area when the area is not used.

2. Use Smart Sensors
Our ceiling sensors will dim or turn off lights based on the area’s occupancy status. And the lights can be gradually turned off to avoid any sudden transition from on to off.

3. Use ‘Daylight Harvesting’
Our ‘smart building’ will dim or turn off lights proportionally to daylight, so that each space with windows always has an even amount of light.

4. Control Our Outlets
When rooms are not in use, the system will automatically shut-off the non-critical outlets.

5. Respond to Local Demand
The connected lighting system allows us to work with our local utility company to reduce our energy consumption during peak demand periods.
