Girls Workshops

Although these workshop fulfill Girl Scout requirements, they are available to all children.

$20 per session unless otherwise noted

Our workshops allow you to learn about tons of science topics, satisfy requirements, and bond with friends. In this perfect afternoon activity for Girl Scout Troops, girls will have a fun time discovering, learning, and gaining knowledge and character with friends as they become resourceful leaders!

Join a scheduled session on your own or with your troop. You can also schedule a private session for any of the workshops we offer with a group of 10 or more Scouts. Call for availability and additional details.

Junior – Get Moving Journey
1 – 4 pm
Get moving on your journey as you explore the world of energy! Make recycled paper beads, observe animals, and find out how to make an energy efficient building!

Brownie - Wonders of Water Journey
9am - Noon
Dive into your journey as you learn all about water and how to conserve it. Follow the path of water around the world, experiment with its amazing properties, and discover how you can make a difference

Daisy Clover/Rosie Petal
1 – 4 pm
Become upcycle artists creating masterpieces using recycled materials.  Engineer skyscrapers and bridges using biodegradable packing materials.  We’ll learn to take care of the environment so we can do our part to protect planet Earth.

Girls Scout Patch Workshops

Spark your passion for science and explore your interests with these hands-on workshops geared towards girls. All participants will receive a one-of-a-kind Carnegie Science Center patch.

November 12

Junior - Girls and Astronomy
9 am - Noon
Unlock your inner astronomer as you explore the planets, stars, and even far off galaxies. Visit the Buhl Planetarium, experiment with rockets, and make a nebula in a jar!

December 10

Cadette - Girls and Robotics
9 am – 4 pm
*Participants should bring a bagged lunch
Cost: $45
Dive into the world of robotics and programming with this day long workshop. Use Hummingbird Robotics kits and the Scratch language to create an interactive robot of your own design.

February 25

Brownie - Girls and Engineering  
1 - 4 pm
Tackle engineering challenges as you design, build, and test out your own structures. Find out what shapes are the strongest, create some simple machines, and explore circuits. During this workshop, girls will visit with real engineers at our annual Engineer the Future weekend event!

March 4

Cadette - Girls and Robotics
9 am – 4 pm
