By making science both relevant and fun, the Science Center's goal is to increase science literacy in the region and motivate young people to seek careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The Science Center also serves as a town square for community dialogue on science and its social implications and seeks to showcase regional science and technology advances. One of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, the Science Center is Pittsburgh's premier science exploration destination, reaching more than 700,000 people annually through its hands-on exhibits, camps, classes and off-site education programs.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Join the team that brings hands-on, relevant, and fun science experiences to hundreds of thousands of people every year. Carnegie Science Center is looking for a knowledgeable robotics instructor to deliver educational programming to summer campers ages 6-14. The robotics instructor will be responsible for leading campers through the design, programming, and troubleshooting of educational robotics kits such as Lego WeDo 2.0, Lego Mindstorms EV3's, and Hummingbird Robotics.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidates will have extensive knowledge and experience with educational robotics. Candidates should be patient, flexible, and comfortable leading a group of 15-30 students. Candidate must have experience working with children, and a degree in education is preferred. Candidates should be available to work full-time hours Monday-Friday between June 5th and August 10th.
