Partnering with educators in Pittsburgh and beyond

Each year, more than 70,000 students take a field trip to the Science Center, and thousands more participate in our competitions, workshops, summer camps, and outreach programs. But our educational offerings don’t end with students — in fact, more than 5,000 educators are reached by the Science Center’s professional development programs every year. Program Spotlight

Tour Your Future inspires girls to explore STEM careers

This past summer, we took the Tour Your Future program on the road to Cleveland, Ohio, where a contingent of 31 girls and their chaperones participated in a day full of STEM tours, activities, and career panels with female professionals in a wide variety of fields.

Mentors in the Making receives national award

Makers + Mentors Network named our Mentors in the Making program the Most Innovative Maker-Centered Learning Program of the Year. Bringing PRSEF home to the Science Center

For the first time in its 80-year history, Covestro Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair (PRSEF) will be held at Carnegie Science Center on March 25, 2020. Read more about PRSEF.

Carnegie Science Award nominations are now open

Carnegie Science Awards honor and celebrate outstanding science, technology, and education achievements making a difference in western Pennsylvania and beyond. Nominations for the 2020 Carnegie Science Awards are open through Dec. 1, 2019. Read more about Carnegie Science Awards.

Science Center in the News

Every major news outlet in the region covered the opening of Mummies of the World: The Exhibition on Oct. 5, including Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 90.5 WESA , and KDKA.
The Science Center was included in a Forbes article called “The Great American STEM Road Trip: Heartland Edition ,” which honed in on the best STEM spots in the Midwest.
In March, the naming of the BNY Mellon Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center was covered by several local outlets, including Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The GSK Science in the Summer program, facilitated locally by our Science on the Road team at public libraries in the region, was featured in the Beaver County Times.
