Exploration Station

Overview

Exploration Station and Exploration Station Junior, located on the fourth floor, feature 3,000 square feet of fun-filled activities and exhibits that encourage open-ended exploration and problem solving.

Some activities your students can work on together include constructing working electrical circuits, designing structures with our giant blue blocks, and altering the spinning vortex of a tornado.

Exploration Station Junior is reserved for children ages 3-6 and their families. This space is available for kindergarten and first grade classes and features a water play area, ball factory, and building zone. Exploration Station Junior is a reservable space, and priority is given to groups that book this exhibit in advance.

When You Arrive

  • Remind students that Exploration Station Junior is reserved for students in Kindergarten and preschool. Older students are not permitted in this space.
  • Check the Show & Tell Room sign for scheduled animal presentations
  • Give your students a challenge, such as:
    • Lighting the giant light bulb with a chain of people holding hands
    • Get the tornado to completely stop spinning
    • Engineer an earthquake-proof building
