Volunteer with Your Troop
Earn a Community Service Bar by volunteering for Science Sleepovers.
Sleepover volunteers:
- Greet campers and make check-in procedures run smoothly
- Facilitate hands-on science activities for campers
- Set up and clean up snacks and breakfast
- Assist Carnegie Science Center staff with set up, event logistics, customer service and clean
Sleepover volunteers attend a four-hour training session and must participate in at least three Sleepover events. A $20 per person fee includes training expenses, meals during Sleepover events, an official Sleepover T-shirt and the cost of the Community Service Bar.
Successful Science Sleepover volunteers are at least 15 years old, dependable, excited to work with children, friendly and able to work successfully in a customer service environment.

Volunteer on Your Own
Earn valuable work experience, explore career options and gain skills when you volunteer at Carnegie Science Center. Rewarding volunteer opportunities are available to individuals ages 14-18. Volunteering at Carnegie Science Center is a great bridge between Girl Scouting and the working world, and makes a real difference in our community. It can also be a great fit for your Silver or Gold Award project.
Carnegie Science Center’s Teen Volunteer Program provides:
- A professional application and interview process
- Comprehensive training and daily supervision
- Career option exploration, particularly for science and education fields
- Skill development, particularly in public speaking and customer service
- Experience working as part of a large organization
- Opportunities to interact with children and families
- Mentors and supervisors to help you develop as a professional, resulting in great college and job references
