Awesome Astronomy

The sky’s the limit to what you’ll discover as you travel to distant galaxies and beyond! Explore deep space, black holes, dark matter, supernovas, stars, and planetary collisions.

Invention Challenge

Learn about the design process, experiment with materials and machines, and then start building! You’ll tackle a different design challenge each day as you try to create the next great invention.

Crack the Case

We need your help to solve a crime! Analyze fibers, lift fingerprints, and match shoe prints to catch a criminal. Put on your sterile gloves and discover the clues to becoming a top crime scene investigator.

Medical Mysteries

It’s off to the operating room! Learn about the mysteries of the human body and how the latest surgical technologies help keep us healthy. Assist in a frog dissection, a worm dissection, and more.

Kennywood Science

Explore the science of amusement parks! Learn the science behind your favorite Kennywood snacks and rides. On Friday, take a trip to Kennywood for a tour to try out what you’ve learned. $30 additional fee covers the cost of the field trip and a Kennywood Ride All Day pass.

NEW! Omnimax Science

Start each day with a different Omnimax movie and then participate in hands on activities that explore the science of each of the movies. Movies will include Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk, Coral Reef, Bugs!, and more.

Robot Science

Build a robot with ROBOTIX, then take command with LEGO Mindstorms®, an amazing software product that puts you in control. Learn what robots can really do, then build your own to take home.

Out and About

Enjoy the last days of summer with an outdoor camp designed to get your body moving while you explore the ecology of our region. Test measures of environmental health as you boat, bike and hike your way through Pittsburgh! $30 additional fee covers the cost of all field trips.

Explore Pittsburgh

Learn about our beautiful city through a series of activities and trips. Take a ride on a Ducky Tour, tour Heinz Field and visit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Carnegie Museum of Natural History. $30 additional fee covers the cost of all field trips.

River Camp

Examine life in the Three Rivers when you spend half the day aboard a RiverQuest boat and half the day at the Science Center. Take samples of river water and peer through a microscope to see what's afloat. Cost: Member $295, Non-Member $310

Payment is due at the time of registration.

Refund Policy
Cancellations made 14 days in advance of the camp start date will receive a refund equal to the cost of class minus a $25 service fee per person per program. Cancellations not made 14 days in advance will not receive a refund.

Cancellation Policy
In case of insufficient registration, Carnegie Science Center reserves the right to cancel any program two weeks before it begins. All registered participants will receive a full refund.
