Mission Discovery
Why Mission Discovery?
-
To provide middle school students with opportunities for academic enrichment in math, science, technology, and the arts.
-
To increase the literacy levels of participants and their families.
-
To nurture family involvement in learning.
How do we do it?
-
Mission Discovery is an intensive, year-round exploration program for middle school students and their families.
-
Students attend every weekday afternoon during the school year and for 6 weeks each summer.
-
Students learn about science and art as they work with educators from the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
- Parents volunteer at least 4 hours per month.
Our community partner in Mission Discovery, The Hill House Association, is a multi-purpose social service agency that provides child-care, health care, youth support services, neighborhood development, and senior services.
