Blue Moon Weekend

Cost: Free with Admission
Date: Jul 19, 2014 Daily until Jul 20, 2014

At Blue Moon Weekend, celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing by exploring the connections between scientific advances and the limitless human imagination.

Learn about current space travel, including going back to the Moon, and how it differs from what we see on the big screen. In the Buhl Planetarium, watch "Stars Over Tranquility Base" to see what the stars looked like as Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon.

Watch as artists from Tom Savini's Special Make-Up Effects program transform an ordinary human into an otherworldly creature.

Smile for a photo with a 25-foot inflatable astronaut or in front of our green screen with the Moon, the rain forest, or the pyramids as your backdrop. Befriend a Stormtrooper or a Rebel Alliance character.

Create your own UFO and pose with it hovering above the city's skyline from our North Shore vantage point.

Blue Moon Weekend events run from 10 am ‐ 5 pm on Saturday, July 19 and 10 am – 4 pm on Sunday, July 20.

Events are included with museum admission.
